I use it and have noticed an improvement in growth...along with CO2 injection.

I put the plants in pots (about 30 cents at Walmart) and put the Flourite in the pot, then I bury the pot in the gravel. At $30 per bag, I didn't want to use only Flourite....it seems to be working well. This way you can move the plants around sometimes without disturbing them too much..

In fact, I have two plants that I did not put in Flourite as a control, they are growing, but only 1/2 the pace...

Oh, I also dose with Flourish (about 1/2 the amount the recommend)...so that may be helping as well.

Fluorite, if oyu can make it work for you, is a good substrate. It just really doesn't lend itself to other uses. Most fish that like to bury themselves or dig in the subtrate may not like it because it can tend to compact a little. It also has a bad reputation for clouding the tank whenever you gravel vac and/or move plants. If you really want the "best" plant substrate, get Eco Complete. Nothing compares to it as far as anything I have seen recommended as the best substrate for plants.

So eco complete wont cloudy up the water like flourite does? Also why does flourite cloudy it up so much?

lots of dust. i am like fish_4_all when someone asking for a plant substrate i point them to eco.... there are others that are cheaper like Soilmaster Select. people who use it claim it to be just as good as eco but a lot cheaper. something to look into. i am still just using reg gravel. i have had really good growth and luck i havent seen a need to switch it something more costly.
