Does anyone know if flourish excell has the same nutrients as regular flourish?
Example if weekly dosed flourish and then every other day dose with the flourish excell for the organic carbon or co2 or does flourish excel have everything flourish does with the organic co2?

Agree. If nutrient fertilization is required, you start with Flourish Comprehensive Supplement once a week at the dose indicated on the label. Flourish Comprehensive contains all but 3 nutrients that aquatic plants require, the three not included being hydrogen, carbon and oxygen since all of these will naturally occur in any aquarium. And the nutrients in FC are balanced proportionally.

Excel is a liquid carbon supplement that I do not recommend. First, it has chemicals that can cause problems in large amounts, and I am an aquarist who believes chemicals have no place in a tank with fish unless absolutely necessary (as dechlorinator for instance). Second, this product can affect some plants, notably Vallisneria, and they melt. Third, it has to be dosed daily to have any practical value, and that sets up a different and higher level of balance biologically. It is preferable in my view to let nature handle things more with less "meddling" from us.

Ive used excel for a long time now and it has not really given me any issues except when i overdosed it on purpose as an experiment. Some plants can really take to it and other cant use it at all. For small tanks, its a economic substitute for co2. If you put them in the pump bottles that dispense 1ml at a time, its easy to dose without worrying that it will destroy your tank.

Thanks for the warnings about excel. I got some to kill the black algae on my plants. Instead of overdosing the tank I used a syringe and applied it to the algae. It turned red and interestingly enough the otos began eating it. They won't eat it if it's black, but will after it's red.

I've just started dosing excel in my 6g puffer tank recently. For me, it's allowing my plants to out-compete the algae, ive been dosing 1.35x the recommended dosage. I also dose 1.65x the recommended dosage of Flourish Comprehensive. This combo has stopped algae growth but has not killed the algae, however, my plant growth has exploded. Just my experience, with the right plants, excel can be very good.
