Maybe the free advertising hahahaha

Wales is a bit far for me aswell

Im lucky to have a good lfs where the plants and fish are all of good quality and they will try and get anything you ask for, theyve even started to give me a discount haha

I bought some plants a couple of months ago and my gold BN pleco had hitched a lift with them, i let them know and kept reminding them to charge me for it, they just said dont worry about it, bargain! Bought 45 worth of fish and 75 of plants last week. For the fish they charged 30 and 60 for the plants and threw in some liive food.

I got some frogbit a few weeks ago mail order from the green machine in wales. Mine are doing great too! although, the roots are so long that they twist and get caught around my taller plants. there are tonnes of runners shooting off and new plants are growing. I also have dwarf water lettuce too, but its a bit of a pain. might start phasing out the lettuce as the frog bit grows.
Why do you say the lettuce is a pain?

Im also awaiting some java fern to arrive, hopefully it will tomorrow, then i will have to stop for plants i think. Fish wise i had some RN tetras on order from my lfs but when i went to collect they said they werent looking to well and the tank was slightly cloudy. Theyll treat them there and when there back to good health message me to collect. I trust them, iv had all my fish from there and not had an outbreak of anything!

hey,

I do like it, but it just gets everywhere. I have 3 types of floating plant actually, all in the same tank. I have a variant of Salvinia, some dwarf water lettuce and now the frogbit.

When I do water changes the water lettuce and salvinia get stuck up my arm, on the syphon, on the jug I use to put the clean water back in etc..

When I feed the fish, I have to turn the filter off and scoop the plants to make a space to put the food in...

The flow from my filter which shoots out across the tanks surface caused all the lettuce and salvinia to bunch up over the other side of the tank, sometimes its over an inch thick just layers and layers, loads of it under the water.

I constantly have to rummage through the hundreds and hundreds of plants I now have to pull out all the old browning, dead leaves. The salvinia tends to have loads of new growth (it grows in a line) but the oldest 2/4 leaves brown off and need taking out.

Theres a few reasons.. lol.

I love having floating plants, and wouldn't be without to be fair, but sometimes I think they are more work than they are worth.... Maybe if I had some floating water sprite they grow so big I think they might just stay in one spot, that might be better for me? dunno, it was just an off the cuff remark, although I do like the plant in question.

Shame your rummy nose (that's what i assumed you meant) are sick I'm sure they would have looked great

(derailing again) Ironically I JUST got a bundle of water sprite at my lfs that they got in today and it looks great, alot lighter green then the rest of my plants so i put it in a hole on my driftwood so it flows nicely at the water surface and spreads over about half a square foot
