F8 puffers biting Java Fern, why?

Does anyone know why my F8 puffers are biting my newly planted Java Ferns. All the leaves have little 5mm holes in them that wern't there when I bought them and every now and then I see small round pieces of leaf floating round the tank so I'm pretty sure it's the puffs biting them.

Are the puffs biting them for fun or are they eating them for nutrition?

They certainly are little characters, when I rinsed the filter out the other day it was full of tiny pieces of Java Fern, it was like confetti!!!

Maybe they need a bit of vegetation. Ever tried feeding them a bit of blanched spinach to see what they do?

I know they're carnivores, but the occasional veggie treat once a week would probably be good for their digestion.

Thanks, I think I'll give it a try, can't do any harm and they might even enjoy it!
