Duckweed

I used to have a ton of duckweed. I was looking in my tank this morning and noticed most of it is gone or clinging to my filter tube (and a few plastic plants as well).

Is there a way to keep it away from my filter?

What kind of filter do you have?

Can't you just put some in a filter bag or net and place that far away from the filter intake?

You have a couple of options. You can look under the DIY section on the TFK forum for a plant corral design (really cheap and easy) to keep the duckweed at one end of your tank or you can get a sponge filter (just the sponge) and cover your filter intake or wrap the intake with the blue/white "filter floss sheets" and hold that in place with rubber bands.

It all works, just a matter of what looks good to you.
Filter bags work, but seem to clog quickly for me.
Chesh likes this.

18 species/varieties of fish, 15 species/varieties of plants - The fish are finally ahead of the plants!
*560 gallons (2120 liters) in 5 tanks -> you do the math.

Thanks. I'll see what I can work up. Elsewise, I'm just gonna get rid of it. I'm sick of fishing it out of my filter
