Driftwood plants

Hi all, I have several mystery anubias plants and a few others that I normally see attached to driftwood. I have a bunch of driftwood to tie them down to, but I don't know how to do it. What should I use to tie them down? Is there a specific way to do it so that I don't kill the plant in the process? I am also worried about tying it too tightly around the plant and thus hampering its growth.

I used black thread to make it camouflage well on the driftwood. Tie the rhizomes but not too tight. Rubber bands can also be used but they seem to disintegrate faster than the thread and the plants you have often are slow enough to establish their roots.
