It was the Life-Glo tubes I got (for 1/4 the price) at Petcetera Trev, the bogwood came from Petland and a store in North Van.
Teddyzapper, look around your local fish stores, plus online places already mentioned by previous posters. There are different types of wood available, I have the very dark wood that I believe used to be mangrove root, it may have other names. I prefer it as it is very natural, like fallen tree trunks underwater; it is also heavy and sinks immediately, does not need to be soaked or held down; soaking will get some of the tannins out faster, but they dissipate fairly quickly (couple of months). There is a very pale wood, I think it's Mopani, I don't like it myself as it is so light; it also leeches tannins badly for quite a while, and it will not sink and has to be weighted down (it may sink after it is thoroughly waterlogged, I took it out and used it on the land portion of my former amphibian vivarium.
