Does anyone know what this is?

I pulled a bit of it out of the creek behind my house. It sort of looks like baby tears but I know they're not from around here (Central NJ). I have it QT'd in a bucket. Not sure if I'll even use it. That bright green bunch in the middle of the pic is what it naturally looks like by the bank and then there's a close up pic. Thanks for any help.

Oldfishlady helped me out with ident. It's water starwort. It's very pretty. I guess we have it because ducks eat it. We have lots of mallards out back.

thanks for letting me know!

we have that growing in the creek running through our yard out back...might have to go pull some and see what happens with it sitting in bucket!
