Canister filter intake/output tubes and leaning plants

Does it matter where in the tank you put the input/output valves for a canister filter? I have a 65 gallon and I just got a new canister and I put it in the middle.

Also my myaca and rotella is leaning in towards the valves, and my plants are swaying a bit, anyway I can stop that?

The canister filter pumps 360 gph and my tank is a heavily planted and stocked 65 gallon.

Thanks.

A spray bar for the output can disperse the flow so it isn't so strong. As for position I don't think it really matters although if you put it at one end you will have less flow on most of the tank.

Unless the plants just hate the flow they will adapt to it, mine did and my crypts actually now prefer to be in the outflow of filter.
