I'm really getting into the hobby of aquascaping. I've completed 3 tank so far but I feel like I've very limited due to budget and ideas.
The first tank was easy. It was a 5 gal breeding tank with small light brown river rocks and silk plants that cover the background of the tank. I added a few Wisteria clippings, quarts, and a moss ball for middle ground decoration.
The second tank was an asian theme with extra fine white sand, a chinese garden decoration, a few small submerged lucky bamboo, and wisteria covering the back ground.
The third tank is my main livingroom display tank. This one is the one I'm having the most trouble with. I have small light brown rock for substrate and larger rocks made of white, brown, red, and purple. No background. Overall it looks like mix between an Oasis and a tropical river. I tried proprigating my wisteria to decorate this tank but the fish keep eating the leaves and stunning the plant's growth.
What plants can I add that can survive large fish? Wisteria is so fragile and I have a few large goldfish that bite the leaves off whenever I add it. They don't even eat it. I have to clean up the leaves from the surface daily.
Also, what can I do to give my tank a little more personality? I've read a little about tying certain plants to rocks and driftwood. What would look good?
Finally, is there a plant that is easy to grow that creeps and covers up surfaces? I tried Java Moss but it didn't grow in my tank at all. It turned brown and died.
