only thing I can come up with after some reading is a type of brown cyano or brown slime algae... causes are same as cyano... low circulation, too much organic matter, high nitrates.

Yeah cant keep snails in the Puffer tank. LoL
Izzy that's something I didn't think about ..... Hmmm
I guess that could be the case as all of my other tanks have snails of some kind be it MTS, Apple or Bladder snails.
