I'm new at this, but I just got some WaterSprite for my tank. It also didn't have any roots when I put it in, but it didn't take very long for it to get some - within a week, I'd say! I was really surprised at how quickly it got going, and I am already seeing quite a bit of new growth, though I did have to prune some of the original leaves, as they got a bit mucky and were replaced with new.

Maybe someone with more experience can chime in, but for now - hope this helps!

Good luck!

Just leave it floating. It may take some time to adjust to different water parameters and light, but it will so float it and leave it. The tank light should be on for no less than six continuous hours daily, this can be more but not less, and it has to be continual, not 2 hours on followed by 2 hours off then 2 hours on, etc.

Some basic liquid fertilizer might help too, as floating plants assimilate a lot of nutrients. A comprehensive fertilizer like Seachem's Flourish Comprehensive Supplement [make sure it is the Comprehensive, they make several different products under the Flourish name] or Brightwell Aquatics' FlorinMulti are both excellent.

I bought 1 plant at a lfs. I cut it into about 6 or 7 pieces and put the stems floating in my 29 gallon. They all developed roots and are growing so good I can't give it away fast enough. I've broken off some smaller pieces accidentally and they start growing roots too. Definetly a great and easy plant to grow.
As Byron said I add Seachems Flourish Comp. once a week and leave the lights on about 10 hours a day.
