Black stuff on plants at store?

I was wandering the aisles of tanks at a LFS and saw that their anubias had black stuff on the leaves.

What is it?

Is it bad?

Do I avoid buying those plants?

How can I avoid it once I get plants in my own tank?

Thanks!
