Best Plants for my 30 gallon?

Hello everyone, my tank was looking a bit barren (no background STILL!) and I wanted to fill it with some plants. I have two rather large fake plants and that's the most fake ones I want to have. I don't have any special lights, C02, or anything plant-friendly substrates. All I have is plain gravel.

I have had success with an Amazon Sword before, it got HUGE. However, I think it's large size was eventually it's downfall (that combined with my huge pleco I used to own). Now there are only two leaves remaining on it (although it looks like it may be sprouting more).

I have a medium amount of java moss tied to a flat rock like a carpet that seems to be doing fine. I also have some type of plant unknown to me (it came in a package with the amazon sword). It has black roots and kind of looks like a pine tree at the top of the stems.
Are there any hardy plants out there suitable for my tank?

well without lights and stuff i'm amazed your sword grew so large.why don't you check out the plant section and get some ideas there.i don't have co2 either but i do have all the other stuff and my plants do fine.if you wanna make a diy co2 you could add yeast to sugar and it will release co2.but lighting is the most important.

Plain gravel will work fine just get some root tabs. Also a liquid fertilizer.Flourish Comprehensive is the most suggested one here.As for the light,go to Walmart or Lowes/Home Depot and get a 6500k-6700k daylight or full spectrum bulb.Much cheaper than the bulbs from pet stores.Plants like vallisneria, java fern, annubias, and the various crypts will do fine.Stem plants like anachris and pennywort will also work but they will need to be trimmed more.

Some freshwater tanks come with 6500k light (or close to it) and they're all set for plants.

Why not just get more swords? Maybe go for a south american thing?
