Best place to buy plants?

So my newest 29gal project tank dry spell is coming to an end, and i am about ready to get it wet. I have done alot of planning the past couple weeks, and i am fairly confident in my first planted tank attempt. I am hitting one major roadblock though. I cant seem to find any reputable places that sells good, healthy plants around me. I live in Daytona Beach Fl. Are there any other means of acquiring aquarium plants other than my LFS? I have found that Petco offers the plants in the tube which are guaranteed against algae and snails, but other places the plants don't look that great. Any suggestions?

My grandpa swears by AquariumPlants.com so that's where I'll be searching when I'm finished planning since all i have around me is an overpriced jack's with half dead plants. Also I saw a few members here with some very appealing deals on their overstocked plants

I've ordered from Planted Aquarium Central before and the prices were good with nice plants. Lately though I've been getting plants off Aquabid. I've gotten some really nice and big plants off there for cheap, ones I couldn't even find elsewhere.

Thanks Boh, it looks like aquabid is a great site that ill be using. Also, has anyone ever tried growing plants from bulbs in those pre packaged things like petco sells?

mikeswetpets on ebay is one I hear mentioned a lot, but I haven't bought from him.

I've ordered from Planted Aquariums Central before and everything I got arrived in good shape and grew well. I'll probably go through them again if I ever order plants again.

The other place I have ordered from is Live Aquaria. Most of the stuff has done well, but some didn't. I made a huge order ($150), and they all arrived in a huge tangled lump.

I've also gotten a few from Petsmart, but as mentioned you must know what you are getting. As always, research before you buy. With their tube plants, avoid all the ones that have the "Semi Aquatic" sticker on them. The Amazon Swords, Wisteria, Java Fern, and Anubias are all fine (just check to make sure they look healthy). They are all in the emersed form though, so the old leaves will die off in your tank but get replaced by new submerged form growth (happened with half the plants from Live Aquaria also particularly the Pygmy Chain Swords). Some stores have actual plant tanks, but don't buy unless you know what you are getting or have a smart phone on you to check. Petco is identical in this regard.

With bulbs, they are hit or miss and often take a very long time to get started. They can work though if you want to try them (expect at least half to not do anything).

+1 on mikeswetpets. he's on e-bay and aquabid. i've order my last 3 bunches from him and they were all great quality, inexpensive, and got here super fast. he'll discount shipping on multiple plant selections.

i've also had no luck with those "tube" plants at the chain stores. they do great for a month or so but eventually the whole stem turns to mush.
