Best place to buy live plants?

I'm looking for either a Pennywort or Anacharis. Please let me know of plants with similar care needs. I hate having such a small list.

Anyhow, I'd love to get Spike's new live plant from either Petco, PetsMart, PetSuperMarket, or Fishy Business (LFS). But if I cannot find the plants I am looking for, I may have to resort to ordering online? Where do you order your plants? How do you go about QTing the plant? And how long do you QT the plant?

Thanks!

Both Brazilian Penneywort and Anacharis are stem plants, and there are numerous to choose from. If lighting is your concern, avoid any of the 'red' varieties as they require more light. I've only tried a few stem plants. Brazilian Penneywort, Wisteria, and Bacopa Carolina. Of the three, Wisteria is my favorite even though I know several others have not had good luck with it. I got mine in PetSmart, it came in a tube. The ones they sell are grown emersed, so they'll eventually loose the leaves they have and new growth will look completely different once submerged. Don't expect much in the first couple weeks...

Have you tried looking at the profiles here? Blue bar at the top, second link. Mostly fish in there, but there is a section for plants too. Tropical Fish Profiles

If you just want some 'easy' plants, look at Java Fern and Anubias. They are two of the easiest, and are pretty slow growers.

As for ordering online, you can try ebay (I hear people talk about mikeswetpets is a good seller), aquabid, or websites like liveaquaria, aquariumplants, or plantedaquariumscentral.

For QT just keep them submersed, with light and heat for a week. Heat generally speeds up the life cycle of nasties, so warmer water makes that happen faster.

If you have a really good local pet store, I would recommend going there (only if its a good one). They usually have good quality plants.

Also if you go to PetSmart when they get a new shipment its not bad either.

Anarchis and Pennywort both are pretty easy to keep... Swordplants, anubias, java fern, crypts, dwarf sag, and ludwigea repens will all do well.

I'm expecting a shipment today from liveaquaria. First time going online for plants. I'm excited and hoping they work out well. I have plants already that I got from Petco but after reading that I should stay away from pet store "semi-aquatic" plants - I decided to try this way.
I've had the petco plants for about a month and so far only noted a little bit of an issue particularly with the wisteria and another type that i'm not sure the name of.

The issue I had with wisteria was that as it grew the bottom part of the plant would disintegrate planted or free floating. I did a get stem to last long then the leaves on the bottom fell off. They grew back many months later.

I love the look of wisteria, The one in the front of my tank that is getting more light seems to be doing best.
