ok so i have a 55 gallon and its chinese themed can i put live bamboo in it and have it grow if so what do i need such as light and stuff

I don't think it grows well when submerged completely. How about some marginal plants around the tank rim? They do a better job absorbing nitrate so that's a plus.

It does not do well at all submerged, but if you find some big enough pieces it does great emersed.

Something like this perhaps?
