Yes, agree with Angel's comments. Shade the light, Anubias does not like bright light I have found. And definitely grows better not planted in the substrate. Anubias grows by lengthening the rhizome and this always grows well above the substrate, indicating it does not like to be buried. I started out with one little Anubias nana in 1998 or so, and last year I had more than three feet of rhizome on this plant. Anubias is a slow grower. It also flowered several times underwater, not much to look at though.
