i hear that you can attack anubias plants to rocks or driftwood. I have an anubias nana in my tank thats placed in the gravel (roots buried, rhizome above gravel). is it best to attach it rather than just buring the roots? whats the best way to attach it? i plan on attacking it to a fake peice of driftwood and buying a giant anubias also for this tank. should I attach the giant anubias to something too rather than buring it? thanks alot :)

I had mine planted both ways (in gravel and on DW) I want to say they do grow better attached to DW then buried, which I believe has to do with the better nutrition intake when attached to DW or rocks.

How's your looking and how long has it been planted that way? That's by what I'd go was it my tank. If its doing just fine and grows well, leave it alone rather then disturbing the root system. If its not doing well, then pull it up gently and attach it to DW. And going fwd with the new one, I'd def recommend attaching to the DW.

its doing ok but hasnt grown a new leaf in awhile. all the leaves have green blotches (see my thread "planted tank faliur) but i think that may also be due to its exposure to direct light from the bulbs but who knows. i wanted to add more pennywort to block some light

Then better up attaching it to DW.

Yea :) Pennywort will def block just about anything...light...your view INTO the tank...stuff grows horribly quick :)

Yes, agree with Angel's comments. Shade the light, Anubias does not like bright light I have found. And definitely grows better not planted in the substrate. Anubias grows by lengthening the rhizome and this always grows well above the substrate, indicating it does not like to be buried. I started out with one little Anubias nana in 1998 or so, and last year I had more than three feet of rhizome on this plant. Anubias is a slow grower. It also flowered several times underwater, not much to look at though.

Not sure exactly which anubias exactly you're looking for, but check this store out, that's where I get my plants (due to lack of variety at LFS) and every order I been very pleased with their quality and price Sweet Aquatics

Only other thing you could do is order some online. Or just buy the plants now that you found them, put them in your tank for the time being and find some later...
Also check the reptile section of the stores, they sometimes have decor for them guys that's plastic, but looks almost like real DW too
