Argentinian Sword Plants

Just got them planted in the tank, they're in normal gravel, but I'll be able to mix in planted-tank specific substrate on Thursday. I'm also getting four red cherry shrimp on Thursday to help fight against algae while I get started (this is day three for the aquarium). Anybody have any other things I need to do to help my first little plants grow?

Patience! Gona take time for the gravel to get enough mulm and nutrients to support fast growth. Your swords should still grow assuming they are aquatic but not as fast as they may after the gravel gets a good nutrient base. You can add the other stuff but it only took 6 months for my regular aquarium epoxy coated gravel to grow plants like weeds so I don't think it is needed.

As for the shrimo, I don't think they will do very well in a cycling tank. they are very secceptible to ammonia and nitrites and are only really recommneded for well cycled and aged tanks.
