Aragonite as planted tank substrate?

I my 3 gal planted tank I currently have some lose gravel, more so on the larger stone size. I don't like the way this looks, or how the plants grow in it. I have a couple of extra pounds of aragonite left over from when I set up my reef tank. Has anyone used aragonite in their planted tank?
Is it good for plants?

125g cichlid - 14g biocube reef - 6g planted Edge - 20g L goldfish/African Clawed Frog

this sand contains buffers that will increase your pH and other levels. your best bet for cheap sand is to pre-rinse play sand really well.
