I am not sure if I used the same aponogeton species, at the time I got mine, I had no expertise in planting so I just half burried it and it came up in less than a week.

But then again, I had no idea what I was doing.

Don't plant it, just make a depression in the gravel and set the bulb in it.

Good luck. :) I love aponogetons.

Thanks for the info! I've never tried Aponogetons before but I sure like the way this one looks in pics.

I was doing a water change in my 100gl, looking at the bulb depressed into the substrate, still not looking any different than when I put it in the tank. I took it out and the smell that hit my nose from this bulb was disgusting! The bulb was rotted and was easily squished in my hand. I think I better go grab the other bulb from the 75gl and check to see if it's the same rotty, nasty smelling dud as this one was. Gross. I will email the supplier and perhaps they will send me replacements for free?? I hope so but I doubt it.
