I took my nephew to the fish store on Thursday and he was totally mesmerized with this Bumble Bee Catfish, and really wants us to get him for the aquarium, how are their temperament, how big do they get etc? I was really impressed on how long my nephew just sat and watched him for 20 minutes, also do they get along well with cories?
Hi there,
I have not personally had a Bumblebee Catfish myself, but wanted to get you some of the information I'm aware of, and hopefully someone with more knowledge might come along as well.
I know there are two types - and i believe the South American is the more common one because it is easier to take care of, and only gets to be about 3 inches in length.
From what I understand, they need at least 20 gallons (preferably a 20 gallon long tank so there is more space along the bottom); and if there are more Bumblebee Catfish, then more gallons need to be added.
From what I know they are relatively peaceful and get along with most fish, and would prefer lots of little places to hide to make them feel most comfortable.
Thanks I have about a 23 gallon, thanks for the info on this my nephew will be excited.
