i seem to have an issue with some brown algae on my plant leaves and on some rocks i have in the tank. i do not have a camera right now but i should be able to get one tomorrow but i thought i would give you a discription of what i see.

it does not look hairy or anything like that. it wipes right off with my thumb and on the rocks with my tank scrubber. i dont know if you have any suggestions. my water is still clear and my fish and crays are happy and healthy. what do you think

any help would be great.

Googel image results for" Diatoms, Brown Algae" sounds to me this is what you're dealing with.

How long has this tank been set up?

Diatoms mostly occur in new set ups because of silicates and ammonia and/or because the set up is immature.
You can keep wiping it off/ vacuum it off; but generally once a tank matures it automatically subsides.
What also helps counter act it and not harmful to your tank is a daily dose of Flourish Excel per dosage on label.
