ok so after i get my grade report in jan or feb i will be getting a 55 gallon tank for my turtles and will be turning their current tank into a CBS and CRS and some neocardinia shrimp.

Supplies:
CO2 diffuser
CO2
CO2 pH drop tester
156 watts of T5HO lighting
some type of root tabs
liquid ferts (need help here)
Lots of huge driftwood

Fauna:
Pleco (not common hopefully)
(need more suggestions)

Flora:
3 sides of the tank covered in X-mass moss
Amazon sword
Red Melon Sword (hopefully)
Red Crypt Wedtii
Chain sword
Glossostigma or Baby tears or Utricularia graminifolia (most likely)
(suggestions welcome)
Java Fern

need some suggestions for both flora and fauna.

is there anything im missing from my supplies list other than general stuff like a net?

Do they still sell pythons? I dont see any for sale anymore... All i can find now are those really expensive aqueon water changers that sell for like 50 bucks for 25ft.\

For liquid ferts, the most commonly recommended one i see is Seachem Flourish.

Your gonna need a good heater for sure, i dont know if that falls under general stuff.

Also beware of putting different types of shrimp together. Some can interbreed and will give u brown shrimp.

CRS and CBS are fine together. They're the same species, but the red is recessive. The offspring will be half black and half red.

Not sure why you're going with the CO2 and high-tech route... Seems like too much work to me.

For fauna, A Betta will devour your shrimp. I would go with tiny fish like neons/cpds, or stick to an invert tank:
Cambarellus patzcuarensis sp. Orange (ie CPO)

Amano Shrimp

Yellow Shrimp

Choice of Red Cherry, Snowball, or Blue pearl (since they WILL breed, and it's ugly.)

Maybe even add some rabbit snails

and *gasp* my favorite invert of all that I wish I had right now-
thai micro crabs

mmmmm inverts....

i am going the high CO2 route for this tank because i would like to be able to change the setup without tearing it down.or sell the plants that grow too large.Plus i would like to try something different

New Updated list of starter fauna:
10 CBS/10 CRS
20 CRS
4 CPO's?
CPD's (hopefully from redchigh)
Pleco
MTS

add Anubias to the list of plants
