Keep it on one tank all the time, the amount of yeast doesn't matter for the most part. Too little and you run a long time before oyu produce CO2, too much and you burn the mixture out early. Stay with the recommended amounts, it works.

As for plants, stem plants, you can sometimes simpoly trim off the tops and replant them, sometimes you need to remove the bottoms as they are starting to rot away anyway. Swords, you only remvoe old dying leaves, same with crypts. Small bushy plants can be trimmed pretty much and way you want to.

Anacharis, trim off dead parts and replant if you want or let it float. The other would need to be identified before saying.

That plant is not aquatic. It will rot in your tank regardless of what you do.

Man, that is the second time that has happened to me, I got 2 of those aqua ferns before, just to find out they weren't fully submersible *agrily shakes fist at lfs* Oh well, at least I know before it dies and kills my puffer.
