Zapped while changing water :\

So I was doing a water change today on my tank. I had added the new water and was putting in some stress coat as I do with every water change. As i was about to pour in some from the cap a little bit touched my finger and two big (for static shock size) bolts shocked my hand. Yeah it hurt a little more than the regular static shock but nothing horrible. Has this ever happened to anyone? How do I avoid it! I was thinking maybe the carpet created static as i moved on it and it traveled through my body and for some reason zapped me when i touched the stress coat. Who knows...

It's not unusual to have static build up in a plastic bottle....even without the carpet. I'm in packaging and we get shocks from the bottles all the time.

One time we were packaging Jhirmack shampoo and a customer at the store took the cap off to smell the product. She got zapped with a shock right on the nose. Jhirmack pulled all their shampoo off the shelves and we had to install an anti-static machine on the production line.
