WOW - new 60g tank!

We went to Petsmart today for some fry food, silicone and maybe a hood for my old 29g tank...
I'm not sure what happened, but there was a 60g ensemble (tank, stand, hoods) with a good price.
I looked at the price, then at my wife and said, "can that be right?" Her eyebrows raised as I said wow and then she said it can be part of your birthday (a couple months away). "But you know we're gonna need a filter, heater, gravel...."

Well, it's setup in my living room now and the fishless shrimp cycle has begun.
Now inside the Aquaclear filter, instead of carbon, I fashioned a bag of gravel from the 10g tank to give the bacteria a jump start. Pretty bare right now....needs decor.

Same exact way with me. The only difference is one of the hoods was broke(I fixed it with gorilla glue) and the stand had a small blemish(hasnt affected look or stability) and they both got 80$ off the price along with the sale they had going on which cut the price in half. Amazing

Haha your story is the exact same as mine, bought the same tank you bought for $227 by the time I bought the rock and decor it was well over $300. I did manage to sell my old one on the same day for $120 so I am very happy with how I came out. Goodluck with your new tank.

Petco has a huge sale right now thru 04/27 on their Aqueon Aquarium kits. they come with the tank, the hood, the light, the filter, the heater, fish food, a net, and a sample water conditioner.

if you have a Petco card, the prices are...

$30 - 10 gallon setup
$54 - 20 gallon setup
$72 - 29 gallon setup

i grabbed a 29 gallon setup last week. it's sitting on the living room floor while i figure out where to put it, and what to use as a stand. i have a spare dresser that is exactly 30 inches wide, same as the tank, so it'll probably go on there.
