what would 8 baby discus + 1 mature one do?

So I plan on getting 8 discus in one pop in a month or two. However, one of my lfs has a more mature discus (only one) which is about 5" in diameter. I want him! Could I add him in with the 8 1-2" ones once I get them? Or, could I buy this guy first and add the 8 babies later? Here is a pic (blurry cell cam):

90gal: 2x Tangerine Discus, 2x Clown Pleco, 2x Catfish.
75gal + 10gal sump: 2x Large Goldfish, 1x Common Pleco, 14x Leopard Danios
55gal: 5x Angelfish, 1x Common Pleco, 8x SIlver Tip Tetras, 16x Neon Tetras, 8x Albino Corys

well...if they are anything like their cichlid counterparts, the big one will most likely establish his "territory" and show aggression towards the younger ones when they are introduced...which is what happened with my large angel when i finally gave her some tankmates...but then again, she has acclimated nicely to having others around so perhaps he larger one would get used to them eventually...you might also try a tank divider when you first begin to introduce the smaller ones...for a week or so so that the large one can get used to the presence of the small ones....good luck!

they would be bought seperately and quarantined at different times because the large one is at a lfs while the other 8 would come from a breeder. as for the big one being lonely if in there without more discus...he is currently in a ~10gal tank at the lfs, alone, so I dont see him being any worse off than he already is!

I would buy the small ones first so they will be given the chance to establish territories. The biggest will be the last to be introduced in the tank. I have discus at different sizes. Although they establish pecking orders, I haven't seen any serious bullying except they got bullied by my bristlenose.
