You have lots of options...

Do a search on the forum for some shrimp farms... They're popular and if you have a good local LFS they might buy shrimp from you. (they're really easy to breed.)

Set up a micro-community... Plant one of the 5's or 10's, get about 6 ember tetras, perhaps a couple dwarf sparkling gourami, and after a while 3-4 dwarf chain loach...

You could make a nice betta home with some plants and decorations...

You can check out my 10G livebearer tank, but make sure you know what you're going to do with all the babies!

Get one of the ten gallon tanks cycled before adding fish, and purchase a test kit such as the API freshwater master kit to determine what your ph is from the tap or the water you will be using for water changes each week. Once you have the ph number ,choose fish that will do well within that range.
Fishes for these tanks will be small fishes in my view.

I was actually thinking of getting a 10 gallon so I could have a couple of dwarf cory's and a Betta. You might think of something along those lines. I would also add a couple plants to that tank, but that is me.
