Not sure what the store policy would be. But at least it's not too much money if you have to purchase a new one. It would be worth replacing to have it run silently IMO.

Good luck with that.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

So I just returned the filter and got a new one, and its still as noisy as the last one!

So, I still need a super quiet filter for my 5 gallon tank. I would prefer a filter that hangs on the outside, but if an inside one would be quieter, that would be fine. Looking for a very small sized filter as well.

So... any suggestions?

I was looking into the Fluval 1+ Internal filter. Any experience with this as a silent filter? How well does it work?

You could use a small sponge filter, you would have the a low hum of the air pump and bubbling, but they work good.

Makes no sense with the new Aqua Clear. Mine runs silent. Are you sure it's secure and not vibrating against the tank or anything?

The only way I know mine is running is to look at the water flow.

Yeah, I've made sure its not vibrating against the tanks and lined the motor with pads, but its still humming mechanically. The motor is also very hot?

Thanks anyway Romad!

Anyone else have any experience with a Fluval 1+ filter?

maybe try putting some of that kitchen gripper stuff between the filter and the tank? maybe that will help with the noise its cheap and they sell it at the dollar store im sure. just buy a piece and cut to size and because its made for gripping and its made out of rubber it will sit right in place between a hang on and the tank.
