Well the fish came and made it 24 hours but...

I know tooo many pictures. But they made it the first 24 hours. And dog gone it THEY overstocked me IN the shipping box.... . Was worried as the box was banged up and wet!!! A corner was tattered and the fins on fish were nipped up. But I had medicine for it and preventing ick.

Spent all evening and all day today watching them adjust. I thought Pineapple platy was the culprit but I caught the little bitty guppy at making her deposit! So caught 8 more fry and they are suspended in the net at top of tank temporarily.

Gotta go out in morning and dig my tote out of shed for the adjustable pump, heater and tubing for use in a large plastic pet container until I can go to town. Going to have to make some trades soon.

And yes I am keeping an eye on the ammonia level. Have to until I can make other arrangements. So far so good.

Bad picts but here they are! Already need bigger tank!!! Hope my pension is reinstated by Monday!!! MTS is being encouraged by these fish. lol I forgot how inevitable the urge for secondary tanks can be. Uh think I need therapy for this too!!! Ahhhhh a wonderful compulsion to have.

Apologize for naught Buckman!! I am thoroughly enjoying them. THEY overstocked by having babies in the shipping box!!! Besides sometimes some are lost in shipping. It is just amazing they ALL made it and are doing well!

Besides I told my kids I want a 30 gallon for Christmas/Birthday this year. My son was looking them up on craig list or something while I was talking to him today making transportation plans to get me there. Since I can't drive until no more strokes for six months and the state decides after that if they think I can safely drive again.

What you sent will be perfect for the 30 gallon tank. I already have the gravel, filter etc for the tank. Just not the tank.

The ten I could then use for a fry tank and I can either sell or make trade ins / store credits. I had an extra heater etc so the 2 daino are temporarily in a 9 gallon bucket with their own fake plants, gravel and supplies. They seem to be doing well and though I can't see in from sides I watch them from the top.

I know the guppy had babies as I saw her giving birth. But I think something else did too. There are a few that look like black from gills back with orange like heads. Also two that look like blue platies ... so far no mickey mouse coloring I can see. And then one of the (pineapple or sunset) appears very pregnant!!!!

The platys are all blue mickey mouse. One had an added burst of color on the top. It is fall and here in the ponds and vats the fish are bursting out all over. Fry are everywhere. They drop their fry here before December then hiold off during the cold months until April to drop fry again. If we cover ponds and keep them warm they go at it all winter. Not suprised they gave you extra. My ponds are fullll of fry. That;s a good thing. I'll have fish to sell in March.

Talking

Yeah the little burst of color Mickey Mouse is a feisty little male!!! The largest male is NOT happy with him as he gets closer to the 1 female more often as well as attempting to siddle up to all 4 female golden mollies. He swims around often along side one of the Mollies which is getting very fat!!!! She is getting "butt nipping attention" from others in the tank too.

I never noticed any appearance of pregnancy in the female Mickey but two stocky fry appear to be blue Platy! No sign yet of Mickey markings but one looks like could be female with a slight black strip at rear of that distinctive fin. She (?) also has two faint vertical grey/blackish lines on body like one of the Mickey mouse males. Impossible to catch it on camera!

Check these attached photos......

1. Guppy fry right?
2. From shipping box.... Guppy or Mollie?
3. finally caught the pleco with the camera though was accidental. You can see how he does not have tail stiffness control. Can't seem to get a photo from the side to show how it appears broken. Does he look ok to you? Is quite different than a normal pleco movement to watch him work up the glass. This is as high as he gets before his lunges don't work for him.
4. Bad side shot of photo #2 fry... from shipping box

Sure! I dip one Pleco out of a batch of thousands and it has to have a tail issue. Go figure! Kidding! Not sure what the bent tail issue might be. I do get them with a hump back now and then but can't say I can remember a bent tail. I am not sure about the fry. It might be a gold dust. The guppy babes are usually colorless. Nice clear photos! I have not figured out how to get so clear photos. It must be my digital camera. The moving fish are always blurred. Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving! dave

LOL Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I wasn't complaining about the Pleco, Dave. I just didn't know if I should watch it and complain to post office of "damaging" my fish or if it was a common deformity thing sometimes. If it is a probably a common thing then I won't worry about him so much.

No prob! i understand you are just asking not complaining. Its all good! A bent tail is not a deformity I see a lot but it does definately happen. Thats what I mean...I scoop one from a vat of thousands and it has to have a deformity...go figure! What are the chances? I did not see the bent tail when I scooped him. He'll be fine tho and will suck lots of algae for you. I raise Plecos from eggs. I have breeders on the farm that are over 18 inches big.

The more I watch him the more I think it was from the shipping box damage. He is doing fine though...just can't hold that tail up when he hangs upside down under filter. He is sooo cute. Will be the first after cycling to go to the larger tank when it comes home with me.
