All green/red algae is due to light. Nutrients are present, so if the light is beyond what balances for the plants, some type of algae is likely to take advantage. Why this type or that type appears in this tank and not another tank we don't know.
You're sure that "brown" is diatoms? I'm thinking from the photo [may be wrong, not easy to see exactly] it is a green/red algae due to light too. I have this in my 90g for some reason.
