gosh i must have had the tamed ***** cats of the barb world,
they would gather at the front of the tank in the morning, and on water change day,
thankfully they weren't pirahana, because they used to pick at my arms.
and i used to hand feed them too.

your already giving up on the current set up. swapping out plants and light is cool but your talking like the fish aren't gonna make it. fish can survive some tuff conditions. check the water and see what they are. you did say that the time the filter has been unplugged is unknown. water changes daily or every couple of days to get the pollutants down can help alot. if the bacteria is gone, borrow some media from someone if you can or drop off your media to an established tank and retreive it later.

Thanks, I do know all this but my tanks are on the other side of the city and I'm not able to take care of them until the weekend (even then I don't know when because I work all weekend) And the way my moms describing it half of them won't last much longer.

yeah time is not in your favor then. i gave up the hobby years ago because i was working pretty much 7 days a week and didn't have time for maintenance. there is nothing like your own. for one would take care of their own things alot better than if you put the responsibility on someone other than yourself.

You should write fortune cookies lol. Uh yeah, I do care for my tanks as much as possible, and I don't ask my parents to do it for me because they have never done anything for me. Thats kind of why I no longer live there but my tanks are still there. Hard to find time when you're 17 on your own with two part time jobs and school. Plus its hard to move fish tanks on a bus... Thanks for the input though.
