Yes, thats the news I just got. My mother just informed me that the filter in my 28 gallon tank has been off for an "unknown" amount of days. And all my fish are 'acting funny and floating around and don't eat.' Thanks mom. Well as I can't make it over there for an emergency water change and they won't do it for me. I imagine this thread will be about me re doing my 28 gallon. I've been meaning to change it around anyways. So next week when I move the tank I guess I'll re build it, add some new stock... Once I cycle it again that is. Any suggestions? I have/had serpae tetra in there and swordtails. I don't want something that breeds like crazy so no live bearers.

Hmmm... Well it is already planted. I'm going to ditch a couple, get some better lights and new plants and pick up some driftwood for sure. Tiger barbs? Interesting theory... I've never had tiger barbs, are they cool? I like the personality of guppies, lol any fish like that?

What kinds of tetras do you recommend Willow?

i used to like barbs, the odessa i think is nice, the males really shows it's colours
with the females.tigers are one of two things, evil killers,or ***** cats,
you need a large group of barbs before they will play ball.
i like rummy nosed tetras, they really seem to hang around without only shoaling in fear.
the old clasic cardinals.i like those.
i can't remember the thread where there was a fantastic array of suggestions for a tank,
the choices were amazing,i wonder if i can find it...................

Thumbs up Man...that sucks.

I'm so sorry that happened!!!
Personally, I love the Yellow banded tetra (a.k.a red eye tetra) I have 6 of them..THey are stunning! They have bright red eye lids, a shiny crisscross shimmering body and a black and yellow striped tail.
They are quite social and interesting to watch.

Just for the record - Tiger Barbs have no personality. They just swim... fast. Oh, and eat.

Tiger Barbs (and all barbs for that matter) are cool because they are quick swimmers. When they are schooling with others of their kind, it's great to watch them swim in harmony.

gosh do i say i don't agree cody lol
i think barbs have a lot of personality even if it is mean ! well the tigers anyway !
i found the odessa to colour up very nicely once they were bought home,
like the pearl groumis do when they are feeling safe,
and the five banded barbs hung around in a nice tight group.
i do think they really look their best in a large tank, they show their swimming speeds
very nicely.
anyway...............back on topic. :)
