it was made from a design i saw on here from a craft material i think intended for crochet. its plastic and i used fishing line both should definitely be inert. and guess what im so happy my ammonia is at 0 now and i got a mean 1.6 or higher NO2 spike now. im so happy my tank is almost cycled :).

im just going to keep an eye on the ph. im ok with it being 8.0 for now. after this tank fully cycles i may try to root out the problem.

oh my ive been waiting so long now i have to think about stocking it!!!

ok so i tested my tank today and have a question.

Ph - 7.5
Kh - 3
Gh - 6
NH3/NH4 - 0
NO2 - .8

ive been testing ammonia dailly til it finally came down to 0. then i started testing the NO2. today i decided to check everything just to see if the others changed and they really have. the Ph has come back down to what my tap tests at but the hardness has gone down a little too. so my question is when you all cycled your tanks did you ever see the other parameters drop like that. is it common or something to worry about?

That's quite common, not a thing to worry about. pH drops in tanks over time which is part of why we do water changes. Hardness can drop as well.
