I sometimes bye a packet of 'live' daphnia, but my lfs say that i have to sieve the water from the packet so i just have the daphnia, it al seems a bit tedious is this necessary??

we do the same thing when we add new fish ( throw old water in the bag away).i think you know why we do it so that's the exact reason why it's done.
