Question Water change after cycle?

Hey there, I have a minor question:

I have been cycling a 20 gallon freshwater aquarium. Ammonia and nitrite are finally at 0ppm, nitrates are reading 5ppm. I currently have a bunch of brown algae on gravel, decorations and glass in my tank and was wondering when I could begin syphoning and/or doing water changes? I am afraid of cleaning up too quickly and setting myself back seeing as I recently got through both the ammonia and nitrite spikes.

How would you approach this?

Much thanks!

You can do water changes anytime there's an unwanted spike and especially once cycled. The root cause of the algae may be too much light so you might want to address that.?

Should I syphon gravel now that the aquarium has been cycled or should I wait for the Nitrate to hit a higher level to do so?
