Your welcome, I am still trying to master my dslr, my film slr's are so much simplier, in my opinion. For the flash if you are using the camera flash you should be able to adjust the intensity of the flash in the camera settings. Might take some searching and playing around, but might find something that works. Also you can always try fixing the coloring in a editing program.
