Wal-mart powerhead - junk?

I recently purchased a powerhead at walmart (won't do it again, can't even adjust the output, only 3 bucks cheaper than an aquaclear), it does have a Marineland hotline sticker on it but the brand on it says Regent. It does the job (can't put it in a small tank, too strong), but today I plugged it in and I saw a bright blue spark from something around the cord. pump still runs but I'm terrified of it now... Just a warning to anyone looking to save some money, wal-marts power filters (whisper, Aqua-Tech) do fine, I own a few, but I won't be wasting my money on a powerhead from them again...
