tape the tank off, spray paint the outside of the tank black for a black background. many light coats of spray is always better then a few heavy coats.

use black substrate, heavily planted, a nice peice of driftwood, large school of neon tetras and cherry red shrimp.
the contrasting colors of the fish and shrimp against the plants and background is amazing.

just what i would do.

Adding to OF2F:

Cardinal Tetras
Marbled Hatchets
A Pair of Angels
A Pair of Rams

Best setup ever IM), besides a reef.

I think I have heard you say that before OF2F! lol.

But, yes, that would be awsome! If there is ever a next tank, that is what I will do!

55 gallons of fancy goldfish would be a tank destined for lots of cleaning.
I personally like the African fishes, but...I think any tank with great planting and some colorful fish would do the trick, just as long as the fish werent chewing on each other.

this is not the only forum i have been holding this vote on. and in each of 3 forums, Amazon is winning! If it does win, which is how it looks like, i will use:
-6 or 8 cardinal tets
-2 rams
-6 cherry shrimp
-2 angels
-3 emperor tets
-2 discus maybe? or overstocked?

Discus are much more likely to cause you stress than relieve it.
