ViaAqua titanium heater

I bought a couple 200 watt ViaAqua titanium heaters for my 55. They have the separate thermostat and exterior controls.

I got these so I could submerge them and mount them horizontally so fish would be less tempted to use them for eggs. In the instructions that come with them it shows a diagram of a horizontally mounted unit with 'WRONG' by it.

Anybody used these? Opinions?

I have the Catalina Titanium heater and really like the design and the fact that the controller is on the outside of the tank. I run mine in the horizontal position, and haven't had a problem with it.

I looked on the ViaAqua site and saw the "correct" diagram, but nowhere did I see an incorrect diagram for installation, and no written information about mounting vertically vs. horizontally. If I had purchased your model, and it is a submersible heater, I would try it in the horizontal position. Just make sure to keep the thermostat the required distance from the heater and make sure there is a drip loop in your electrical cord.
