Is Using a Air Stone Really Necessary?

I have a 30 gal tank and have pretty good flow from my filter output which breaks up the surface tension pretty good.

Do I need to also add an air stone for oxygen into the water?

Welcome to TFK! An airstone is not necessary, in my opinion. I don't use them in any of my tanks. All my tanks are planted and I don't want the water's surface broken as that would affect the O2/CO2 process required by my plants for optimum conditions. Some people simply like the looks of a wall of bubbles. Not me.
Once again, wlecome to the forum, I hope you'll be happy here!
