upgrading to a 40 gallon planted/lighting question

I just bought a 40 gallon long seaclear aquarium. I am upgrading from a 30 gallon unplanted. The lighting that came with it is a 24 inch t-8 watt bulb. It sats 20 is the max wattage for this light. It does not look like it will be nearly enough light. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
