Unsure of the size of my tank?????

OK I have been looking on line for aquariums that match my measurements but came up with nothing. The closest is a 40 gallon breeder tank, but when I got the tank 3 years ago as a 55 gallon but all 55 gallons I found are 48" one foot shorter then mine. My measurements are L 36"x W 18", H 16 1/2". I measured only the glass end to end. Please let me know because I need to know due to stocking.

Thank you very much, according to the site my tank is a 44.9 U.S. gallon.

I've also found this site very helpful: An Aquarium Sizes and Weights Chart

When buying online, make sure you bring something to measure the tank with. If you can find the lengths and sizes online, so can they. Always double check.

I am looking for Canadian gallons, not U.S. gallons.

You have what is commonly called a '40 gallon breeder'. Great for growing plants since it's quite shallow.

I use this site when I'm unsure, and just find it on the list.

I've never heard of Canadian gallons. If you mean imperial gallons, your tank is 33.3 imperial gallons, or 152 liters.

Well thanks but I figured its a 46 Imperial gallon tank. The site is volume conversion - converting units of volume. There is no way it's a 33 gallon tank, much to big for that.
