The pet store recommended a 5 gallon bucket with as much water as possible and plastic taped over the top. So I did that and poke a few small holes in it and everyone made it :)

lmao You ask for advice here and then listen to your LFS??? 95% of those idiots have no idea what they are talking about. Sounds like this was one of those times.

I can say I would never transport my fish in a 5 gallon bucket with plastic. Your lucky.
