uh, betta and gourami is a huge NONO, both inhabit the same area of the tank and exhibit brighter colors. It is common for them to fight for territory. Bettas and cory on the other hand, is generally ok, obviously some bettas are worse tempered than others, but the dwarf cories are 1)small, 2)dull colored, 3) travel in groups. This means that the betta will most likely ignore or not bother with the cories. I have a shoal of 6 dwarfs in my main tank and they do venture to the top of the tank at times to grab air, but spend 90% of their time at the bottom of the tank. Their mouth positions are downwards so they scavenge and feed off the bottom of the tank. Bettas and gourami's have upwards facing mouth positions so they feed from the top of the tank, hence territorial at the top.
