Yeah, I forgot to mention that the $23 was with shipping added in so less if you're buying something else too. All in all still a better deal than Petsmart.

Aquarium
I had a Tetratec Laborette master liquid test kit. It included tests for ammonia, nitrite, ph, kh & gh but not nitrates. So I had to buy an API test seperately for nitrates. But it was a good kit. It included a syringe for drawing water from your tank and 2 vials for testing in. It also included tests for saltwater as well as freshwater but I didn't use those.

150 Gallon - Mostly American Cichlids
135 Gallon - Angelfish Community
75 Gallon - Odd couple (Polleni/Angelfish)
55 Gallon - African tank
20 Gallon Long - QT
10 Gallon - Empty

Generally they all have tests for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH in the kit. There are additional tests you can buy too(for GH, KH, and other stuff).

This is the song that never ends...

Not necessarily. I havekits fo GH and KH, but seldom use them. I generally use them when I'm having some dificulty and need more complete water analysis.

Some of them come with one test, some with 2, some with 4, some with 10 and some with even more. All depends on how complicated you want to get and how many things you want to test.

Stick with these:
ammonia
nitrites
nitrates
GH
KH
pH

API has a kit that has all of them plus a couple. There are other master test kits that do also. Stay away from cheap kits because I have heard that it can sometimes be hard to read the colors.

It sure makes me wonder WHY they even make the strips. Glad I went the way of Liquid testing.

There comes a point in your life when you realize
who matters,
who never did,
who won't anymore....
and who always will.
So, don't worry about people from your past.
There is a reason they didn't make it to your future.

We should try to get API as a sponsor. Then we could convince them to give away test kits as photo contest prizes instead (not the master kit mind you, but the individual ones) :D

This is the song that never ends...
