I have an opportunity to get a 70 gal tank.....
How easy would this work:
Take my currently cycled/running well tank and:
1) switch the gravel to the new tank, (will need to add more new gravel)
2) switch the ornaments, etc to the new tank
3) remove the filter from the old tank and mount it on the new one,
4) transfer the water and fish to the new tank.
Since everything in the tank is already cycled, full of bacteria, and the water is the same, the only thing new would be the glass surface of the tank (and all the new fresh water I will have to add to fill it and maybe a bag of new gravel)....the bio-load will be the same, etc.....
Is this a no no? It is a new tank, so cleaning would be a simple rinse in R/O water. It's just that I don't have room for 2 tanks and thought this would be a quick way to make the switch in one day....
If not advised, I won't do it...but I will have to pass on a nice tank.
