Tank stocking

The tank has dimensions of 36x12x18. I was wanting to keep 4 angelfish or more or less let me know your thoughts on that. I also want 8 bleeding heart tetras. possibly a rainbow shark, corys or kuhli loaches. So how about a stocking of 4 angels, 8 bleeding heart tetras, 8 corys or 8 kuhli loaches or a rainbow shark. Also do corys and kuhlis require sand or can I have gravel with them.

First off, it would help to know your local water parameters like pH, GH, and KH (hardness). From what I've heard of angels, they should be in groups of 5 or more. The rainbow shark needs to have a 4 foot (48 inch) long tank, so it wouldn't be suitable for your setup. Kuhlis and cories do best in sand, but they can live with smooth gravel.

We have most of these fish in our profiles. If you click on a shaded name you can see a lot of information about a fish. You can also seach fish by name when you click on "Tropical Fish Profiles" under the site logo. And welcome to the site!

My ph is 7.2 and the water hardness is 6. So would 6 angels 8 kuhlis or 8 cories and 8 bleeding hearts tetras be fine or would that be to much.

Your tank is not large enough for some of the mentioned fish. I have a tank with the identical dimensions and it is a 33g. That is too small for angelfish (except for a bonded spawning pair on their own), and the rainbow shark. Also, this latter is not always compatible with substrate fish, so I wouldn't risk it.

The groups of tetra, corys and loaches as suggested would be fine. Kuhli loach should have sand, they like to burrow. Corys obviously prefer sand, but fine gravel that is smooth is OK.
