The fish is Centromochlus perugiae which as it shaded is obviously in our profiles. An Amazonian catfish. The one in the photo is not one of mine, but I do have a trio of these cute little cats in my 115g. The profile will detail their very specific behaviours and why one rarely sees them in the aquarium, unfortunately.

The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. [unknown source]

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

Ahhh, was I ever wrong. Catfish are tricky beings. I love the blue whale catfish, Cetopsis coecutiens, but they are more than I could handle anytime soon. My LFS has tons of them, for reasons I don't understand.

taking a break from fish-keeping.
3 lovely male betta still keep me company.
